vertices and y-intercepts I was able to find and understand the experience and data of a Zero-G
flight. Starting with only three heights and the time that it took to achieve those heights I was
able to deduce so much information about how this type of flight worked.
I believe this project is a valid representation of how math can be applied in the real
world. Using only the times and heights associated with those times I was able to find the arc of
flight, and so much more. Even with the information obtained there is so much more potential to
utilize this information to come up with speed, velocity, and weight. Everything in our universe
is relative and the way that we explain these relations is through mathematical expressions.
Another example of how some of these mathematical principles could be applied to real
life would be used in calculating profits, ticket prices, process efficiency, and so much more.
Relating to our current topic, quadratic equations could be used to determine the speed of the
vessel used in the Zero-G project. Speed is a valuable part of the data used here and could relate
to how much further we could take this technology or where it might need improvement.
If I were on the flight crew for this lab I believe that this data would not only be
beneficial but necessary for the rest of the crew to understand what was going on, and other
potential risks associated with the process. Specifically, knowing the boundaries that we have as
far as time and height would be critical. Knowing the maximum height and maximum time,
explained using the vertex, would be important for everyone to know in certain emergency
situations, that way people can be prepared to evacuate when approaching those maximums in
semester and how it can be applied to a relevant real life situation. Math affects many areas of
our lives and many that we are totally unaware of. I have personally experienced math being
relative in my life in regards to finances, percents, and statistics. This exercise has shown me the
way that math can be applied in ways that I have no experience with but continue to benefit
from.
