Dear Parents/Guardians,

Today in class, we learned about rainbows through a social

lesson. First, the students participated in a poll to figure out which
color of the rainbow is their favorite. Then, the children went into
small groups and they worked together to put the colors on the
rainbow in the correct order. The objectives of this lesson were for
them to listen and respond to conversations and form healthy
interactions. In your home, you can work with your child on activities
to help them listen and respond in conversations.

Pre-Assessment:
I asked the children these questions and document their
responses:
“What is one way that you and your peers can work together?”
“How can you be respectful when talking to your friends or
adults?”

Lesson Procedure and Activities: (the format will depend on the
type of lesson such as ELA or science)

Introduction: I will have each color of the rainbow written on their
board with their own column. I will go around to each child and ask
them what their favorite color of the rainbow is. Then, the child will
take their picture and put it under the color that is their favorite.

Activities:
1. I will split the children into groups.
2. I will give each group one piece of construction paper for
each color of the rainbow.
3. The children will communicate to put the colors in the
correct order.
4. I will go to each group and help them if they need it.
Closure:
We will come back together as a whole group and get them to
discuss what they did as a group to complete the activity.

Differentiation:
For the Spanish speaking child, I will give her cards that have
common phrases that she may need to use when communicating
with her peers. For the children that need help with speech
articulation, I will help them articulate words if their peers are
having a hard time understanding what they are saying.

Formative Assessment/Evaluation:
I asked the children these questions and document their
responses:
“What is one way that you and your peers can work together?”
“How can you be respectful when engaging in conversations with
your peers or with adults?”
