Overproduction of riboflavin can be obtained by acting on wild strains

with mutagens that disrupt the mechanism of retroinhibition of vitamin B2

synthesis, flavin nucleotides, and also by changing the composition of the
culture medium.
The composition of the medium for the growth of riboflavin producers
includes:
• - soy flour
• - corn extract
• - sucrose
• -calcium carbonate
• -sodium chloride
• -vitamins
• -inedible fat.

At first, vitamin B12 was obtained exclusively from natural raw materials (1
ton of liver - 15 mg of vitamin). The only way to get it at present is through
microbiological synthesis on an industrial scale.
The source of ergosterol production can also be the fungal mycelium,
which remains as a waste (by-product) of the antibiotic industry.
Microorganisms Cryptoccocus curvatus synthesize significant amounts of
ergosterol in dairy waste media and during cotton processing.
This all relates to the issue of profitability and environmental friendliness of
biotechnological production.
