Galileo was an Italian scientist patronized by Italian powers such as the Medicis for his scientific

discovery. He had made another discovery by proving the Copernicus’ geokinetic theory. This theory led
to conflict between the Bible’s statement that the Earth didn’t move, according to the Catholic Church’s
interpretation, and the geokinetic theory. The Catholic Church and Galileo couldn’t reach a compromise
until the Catholic Church tried Galileo for heresy in Rome. The Catholic Church’s forced attempt at
compromise failed. Galileo had to recant, but his theory was considered by people who lived after he
did. The Catholic Church eventually admitted that it was wrong in 1992.
