Communication
It is a process of expressing and
exchanging information, thoughts,
ideas and feelings.
The term communication process refers to
the exchange of information ( message) between
two or more people.
For communication to succeed, both parties
must be able to exchange information and
understand each other. If the flow of information
is blocked for some reason or the parties cannot
make themselves understood, then communication
fails.
Communication has elements that work
together to produce a system.

They are composed of the following:

❑ Sender and Receiver
❑ Messages
❑ Channels
❑ Feedback
The Sender
the communicator/ source/encoder

sends the message and makes use

of symbols (words, graphics or
visuals) to convey the message
and produce the required response
● The sender has some kind of
information — a command,
request, question, or idea — that
he or she wants to present to
others.

For that message to be received, the

sender must first encode the
message in a form that can be
understood, such as using a
common language and transmit it.
Encoding
is the process of turning thoughts into
communication wherein the encoder use a
medium to send the message.
The Receiver
receiver / interpreter / decoder

To comprehend the information from the sender,

the receiver must first be able to receive the
sender's information and then decode or interpret
it.
Decoding
is the process of how the receiver
understands and interprets the
message.
The Message
❑ Content

❑ is the information that the sender

wants to relay to the receiver.

received the message and understood in the
same sense as the sender meant it..
may be direct,
such as a written or verbal

form of an act or deed in
response (non-verbal).
Other Factors
Noise:
This can be any sort of
interference that affects the
message being sent, received,
or understood. It can be as
literal as static over a phone
line or radio.
