WHAT IS A HEALTH ASSESSMENT?

It is the application of appropriate procedures and tests


in examining an individual to enable a medical
professional to decide whether that person is fit for the
specific working and living conditions that are
demanded of him.

WHEN IS A PERSON UNFIT?

UNFIT means the presence of a condition under


circumstances whereby the condition would cause the
person to be a safety or health hazard to him or her self
or to others, where the condition cannot be controlled.

A HEALTH ASSESSMENT MUST:
Use appropriate methods to detect relevant health problems which
may impact future
Be performed by a competent, OFS-QHSE designated health
professional in approved facilities
Maintain employee confidentiality
Comply with local legislation and industry standards
Be cost effective

FREQUENCY OF A HEALTH ASSESSMENT

MANDATORY UPON PRE-EMPLOYMENT FOR EVERYONE

IT IS RECOMMENDED EVERY THREE YEARS THEREAFTER


UNLESS REQUIRED MORE OFTEN BY LOCAL LEGISLATION,
JOB REQUIREMENTS OR INDIVIDUAL HEALTH PROBLEMS

MANAGEMENT WILL ONLY BE INFORMED OF THE EMPLOYEE ’S
