    My name is James Gilleece. I am 23-year-old filmmaker currently living in


    Derry/Londonderry, currently in my final year studying Cinematic Arts at Ulster University
    (Magee). I am extremely invested in the course, but externally, I have very little experience. I
    am writing to apply for your 2021/2022 Trainee Finder scheme in hopes to gain experience
    in the area of production design.

    I have six years’ experience in the hospitality industry and recently, I have started my own
    small business where I design clothing. I have gained transferrable skills from both of these
    areas to anything in character design, costume design, working on a project, working on a
    set, or setting a scene. Some of the skills I have developed from both fields are:

    • Budgeting • Social media management


    • Working with a team • Multi-tasking
    • Communication • Attention-to-detail
    • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop • Good observational skills
    and Adobe Premiere Pro • Good communication skills
    • Good at sketching/designing • Working in a team
    • Knowledge of fashion trends • Active interpersonal skills
    • Strong sense of trend prediction • Understanding the importance of
    • Creating an building rapport
    atmosphere/tone/theme • Conflict resolution skills
    • Organising photoshoots and styling • Good long- & short-term memory

    I feel I would be an asset to wherever you see fit placing me, as I have a deep passion for
    anything involving design and atmosphere. I am aware this scheme requires low-level
    experience, so I am willing to gain experience in any field. I have a strong educational
    background and a drive to constantly self-improve.
