Definition: Enzymes

I think the one sentence definition is a good idea, since the encyclopedia that we are pretending to write
for uses them. The theoretical part would have to talk about the lock-and-key model, which is by itself
an analogy. There could also be a graph there. You could also talk about something like lactose
intolerance or any other well-known enzyme deficiencies. Some in my family are lactose intolerant, so it
would be interesting to find out about the genetics and such if there's room. Since an enzyme is a kind
of catalyst, you could also compare and contrast it with other, nonbiological catalysts. and talk about the
factors that influence enzyme function (like temperature, pH, etc.)

Definition: Scientific Balance

I've always been interested in laboratory equipment. If you can, get ahold of this book. I used to have a
copy and it is full of information about all sorts of lab equipment, including balances.  I would include
some comparing and contrasting between a balance and a scale. Also, if you can find an analytical chem
text it should be helpful. Also, do you think you can include a process description that explains how to
use an analytical balance properly? Maybe you can also include some labeled graphics and schematics.
Websites of analytical balance manufacturers (like Mettler Toledo, Ohaus or Sartorius) usually have
SOPs and manuals that may be helpful

Definition: Mussels

I think the strategy you are using would count as partition (dividing an idea into smaller parts) rather
than process description/principles of operation (describing how something works or how it is to be
done). Your definition seems very thorough, and I don't know where more could fit, but I'd love to learn
how to distinguish different mussels from each other. Specially mussels that are common here in
California. Ethical consumption is also a thing I've seen a lot in articles about animals that humans can
eat, so perhaps you could work that in somewhere. Both of these would count as process descriptions
("how to identify a mussel vs a clam or an oyster" or "how to choose ethically raised/caught mussels,"
etc). Like I said, however, your definition is already pretty thorough, so I'm unsure where that would fit.
