California State University: Long Beach

California State University Long Beach or CSULB is a four year public university

located in Long Beach, California which is the 3rd largest state university with over 37 thousand

students. Instead of having an in person tour of the school I did a virtual tour of the campus. My

first impression of the campus was that it was a big campus which I wasn’t sure if I liked or not.

Similar to Monterey Bay, the campus was near a beach and there’s a city nearby which was a

plus for me because I like the beach. One disadvantage about taking a virtual tour is that you

don’t get the overall feel of the campus and campus life. One thing about this university that was

different from the last one I talked about is that the acceptance is much lower, with it only being

thirty-one percent. While I was on the tour I looked at the Psychology program, Fine Arts

program, Molecular and Life Science program and the Performing Arts Center. One major

difference from Monterey Bay is that the Psychology program has a whole building rather than

just having one section of the building dedicated to Psychology. Another thing I really liked

about the Psychology program is that there are a wide variety of different classes you can take

which is also vastly different from Monterey Bay. Another thing I liked about this university is

the Performing Arts department, it has an impressive list of previous productions that were done

there and specifically theatre seems like something I could be interested in as a minor or just a

hobby. Overall I can definitely see myself going here in the future because I was thoroughly

impressed with the location, the different varieties in the psychology program, the performing
arts department and the housing/dorms. The only complaint I have is that the school is a little too

big for me.
