Behavior is an action or activity of the human being, which can be observed


directly or that cannot be observed by outsiders. Human behavior is born from
habits that can affect a positive or negative impact but can be changed with
knowledge and experience, so it is necessary to provide a health education ith a
role play method in order to increase knowledge and realize the importance of
using masks to prevent transmission in around it. One of the solutions are given
to be able to behave using masks properly is the provision of health education
with the role play method. The study was to determine the effect of health
education with the role play method on the behavior of using masks in pulmonary
tuberculosis patients in Dringu Community Health Center Probolinggo.
The design used in this research is Pre-Experimental with the One Group Pre-
Post Test Design method. The population was 55 respondents and the sample
studied was 43 respondents taken by purposive sampling. The research
instrument used a behavior questionnaire using a mask. Data collection includes
editing, coding, scoring, and tabulating. The data obtained from this study were
analyzed using the Wilcoxon Non Parametric Test Statistic Test.
The results of the study were obtained before given health education
interventions with the role play method, an average of 28 respondents (65.1%) of
the behavior using a mask were not good. And after given a health education
intervention with the behavior role play method using masks in pulmonary
tuberculosis patients in Dringu Community Health Center Probolinggo, the
behavior of using masks was quite good, namely 28 respondents (49.1%) and
the behavior of using masks was very good as many as 15 respondents (34, 9%).
From the results of the statistical test, the results of P value = 0.000≤ α = 0.05.
It is hoped that respondents can behave in wearing masks regularly as
suggested.
