This form is submitted to ELT Sejati Research Board for approval before (a) researcher(s) continue
working with the project proposed within ELT Department at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon.
Please submit this form to ELT Sejati Research Board at research.eltsejati@gmail.com. Write the form code (in the header of this document) as
well as the name of this application form using your full name initials followed by the date of submission, e.g. MA22072019.doc (for application
submitted by Muhammad Abduh on 22 July 2019). One word full name uses two same word initials (e.g. AA for Aisyah), more than two-word
names use the first and the second word name initials (e.g. SR for Siti Romlah Hidayati). You should receive the review result within two weeks
of working days started from the date of application submission.

Notes relating to Research outline form
The following notes will assist you in providing the appropriate
information in each section of the form.
1. Research focus area
This information is about the focus of the research, e.g. writing
English academic text, speaking EFL, textbook content analysis,
etc.
2. Possible related fields
This contains other fields that may have contribution to your
research, e.g. translation, discourse analysis, etc.
3. Project Title
The title should indicate the contents of the thesis, and be no more
than about 200 characters, or 14 words in length.
4. Key words
Please write maximum 5 key words used in the research project.
5. Abstract
Please write a not more than 150 word abstract of your project.
6. Description of the issues to be addressed
Define and briefly discuss the research objectives that will be
examined in the project.
7. Description of the importance of these issues
Place the project within its disciplinary context by describing the
importance of the issues being examined. You should clearly state
the relationship of the proposed project to previous work of a
similar nature.
8. Description of the research methods
Describe the way in which the research objectives are to be
achieved. It should describe the source/s of information, the
procedures for establishing the reliability and relevancy of that
information, and the structure of the research itself. You should not
only outline the form your investigation and analysis will take, but
also identify the resources that will be required.
9. Outline of the timing for various stages of research
As far as possible define a series of stages within the project and
provide an indication of the expected time of completion for each
stage. This information should demonstrate the capacity of the
project to be completed within the normal period of candidature.
10. Statement of ethical and/or legal issues and requirements
There are a range of bodies regulating experimental research and
any other data collection for research. You should be aware that
obtaining any form of permit or clearance for your work is
ultimately your responsibility as (a) researcher(s).
Because the success of some research projects depends on
satisfying the requirements of those bodies, it is important that
your proposal identifies what clearances are required and how you
will get them. Research involving the participation of humans, or
access to identifiable personal information, requires clearance from
theEthics committee of ELT Sejati. There may also be a need to
obtain clearances from external organisations, including:
● Ethics Committees in other institutions;
● Permission to undertake research at government institutions
(e.g. schools);
● Permits for research activities at private institutions (e.g.
private schools, corporates, etc.);
● Research visas for projects being conducted overseas.
11. Identification of issues of intellectual ownership
If there are restrictions on the free circulation of your research
results you should describe the nature and extent of such
restrictions. This applies to ethical restrictions (e.g. privileged
information, medical details, information restricted by legislation)
as well as restrictions stemming from contractual obligations to a
funding body.
12. Non-English languages
If applicable, please clarify to what extent other languages than
English will be used during the project and in the report. If the
subject of research is some aspect of a culture whose native
language is not English, outline your capacity to understand the
language. The project report would normally be written in English.
If you have a reason for writing the report in another language,
provide an explanation here.
13. Outline of the resources required for the project
Please mention how the research will be funded, whether using
your own expenses or from sponsors.
14. Bibliography of key references of the subject
By this stage you should have carried out an extensive literature
review. Please write key references to be used in your research
project.
