DIA
Today I want to talk about a small but important part of the global issue’s topic. It is some
low waste tips and habits which can help us to save the Earth
I prefer to call it low waste instead of zero waste. There is a very nice quote about it.
2.DIA
“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people
doing it imperfectly.”
We can’t do it in a 100% perfect way because there are several things which you can’t avoid
like official papers, recipes, medicines etc. but we can do a lot of small thing and it can help a
lot too.

Do you use or do something what you think is good for the environment?
I want to show 5 tips or habits what I find very easy yet very helpful
4.DIA
1.My first tip is a reusable water bottle
60 million water bottles are landfilled a day. That’s a lot of plastic bottles. And, plastic can’t
really be recycled. I drink tap water, but a lot of people don’t like it. For them water filters
can be a solution.
And it can be a good investment, if you use your bottle often you can save money too

2. The second ones are reusable produce and grocery bags
You can use these things to replace plastic bags or shopping bags. You can do it yourself,
there are a lot of tutorial on the internet or you can buy it. Someone asks that why this things
aren’t free or just a few forint and I heard a really good answer, it was: “Because then people
use this like they use plastic bags, don’t bring their own just buy a new one every time so it
lost its meaning.” I find it very true. So, the stores need to find a prince which is not too low
to buy every time a new one instead of reusing it and not too high because then people can’t
afford them.

3.Reusable straw and cutlery
I don’t want to show horrible turtle pictures, you know that one where the turtle had a straw in
the nose. Instead of it a want to show some nice alternative.
Build a zero-waste kit and put in the trunk of your car or carry it with you when you’ll be out
so you’ll always be prepared. It doesn’t have to be large just a few items.
You don’t have to buy a fancy bamboo kit or something like this. Use what you have at home,
your basic forks and spoons are prefect. It always better to use what you have instead of
buying a new one. If you don’t use plastic straws then of course you don’t need to buy a steel
one, that’s not the point. The point is to find a nice replacement for the single-use plastics.

4.Eco egg
This is an environmental friendly laundry solution. Containing no harsh chemicals, and kind
to the environment and your skin. Completely replaces laundry detergent and fabric
conditioner. You can buy a refill which allow you to use the egg over and over again. I use
mine almost for two years and it works perfectly for me. I always hated to measure the
laundry detergent and the conditioner. Now I put the egg in to the washing machine and start
it, that’s all, it’s very easy

5.5R
My fifth tip is a bit different because it is a five-in one. It is called the FIVE-R because the
first letters. There aren’t concrete tips, I will show some example for every R.
Refusing to buy wasteful or non-recyclable products, unnecessary product packaging
Reduce the use of harmful, wasteful, and non-recyclable products. For example, when
printing a document, print double-sided to cut your waste Reduce your meat consumption.
Meatless Monday, weekday vegetarian, or even weekday vegan.
Reuse
Single-use plastics have created a "throw-away" culture by normalizing the behaviour of
using materials once and then throwing them away. Use what you already have. If you want
to start prepping food for lunch, use your plastic containers instead of buying a fancy glass
one, just because the zero-waste gurus use metal and glass containers. When your plastic one
is ruined then you can buy a better option than the plastic
Recycle is start collecting cardboard, mixed paper products, commingled materials canned
foods cans, glasses
The last one is rot. Set up a compost system for your food scraps or find a food scrap drop off
centre (like a farmer’s market, or community garden) near your house.
