1. World AIDS Day is observed on 1 December every year. The day aims to raise public awareness about AIDS. The day
aims to motivate the people who are infected by the fatal disease.
Theme: The theme of the 2019 World AIDS Day is Communities Makes The difference.

2. Thailand has been elected as a member of the World Heritage Committee.

3. Reliance Industries (RIL) Chief Mukesh Ambani ranked as the 9th richest person globally in the Real-Time Billionaires List
of Forbes. His net worth was $60 billion

4 Indian Navy successfully test-fired the 290 km strike range Brahmos supersonic cruise missile. The supersonic cruise
missile was test-fired in the Arabian Sea.

5. The 2nd Annual India-Bhutan Development Cooperation Talks have held New Delhi.

6. Soma Roy Burman took charge as the 24th Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Finance Ministry’s Department of
Expenditure

7. India has become the first country in the world to completely digitize the Haj process.

8. The Nagaland Hornbill Festival began at Naga Heritage Village at Kisama in Nagaland on 1 December 2019. The year
2019 celebrates the 20th edition of Hornbill Festival and the festival this year coincides with Nagaland Statehood Day.

9. India-Japan Foreign and Defence Ministerial Dialogue, which is the “two-plus-two” (2+2) dialogue between India and
Japan, was held in New Delhi. The dialogue was held with the aim of boosting bilateral security and defence
cooperation and is expected to strengthen “India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership”.

10. The 7th edition of India-Sri Lanka joint Military & Army Exercise MITRA SHAKTI–VII: 2019 has started at Aundh Military
Station, Pune, Maharashtra with the aim to build and promote positive relations between the armies of India and Sri
Lanka.

11. Dr Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State (MoS) for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, has inaugurated the 2-day
Regional Conference on ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ with focus on ‘Jal Shakti and Disaster Management’, organized by
the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in association with Governments of Tamil
Nadu and Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, held in Jammu.

12. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal has inaugurated the 5-day long 30th edition of Konark festival, a showcase of Odisha’s art,
culture and tradition has started in Odisha.

13. Saudi Arabia became the first country in the Arab world to head G20 (Group of 20) after it took over from Japan. The
G20 summit for 2020 will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia under the theme of “Realising Opportunities of the 21st
Century for All”, from 21-22 November, 2020.

14. Shri Hari Mohan, a 1982-batch Indian Ordnance Factories’ Service (I.O.F.S.) officer has taken over as the new chairman
of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).

15. Masatsugu Asakawa was elected as the 10th President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by the Board of Governors
of the ADB.
16. Iraq’s Prime Minister (PM) Abdul Mahdi has resigned from his post after heavy protests. He has taken this decision after
more than 40 people were killed by security forces in Baghdad and Iraq’s mainly Shia southern cities of Nasiriya and
Najaf in anti-government protests

17. The union sports minister Shri Kiren Rijiju launched the 3rd edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) at Karmabir
Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Guwahati, Assam. The games are scheduled to be held from January 10-22,
2019.Composite logo, players jersey, mascots and theme song of the 3rd edition of the games was launched during the
launch

18. The tie match between India and Pakistan for the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF’s) Davis cup 2020, was held at
the National Tennis Center, in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from November 29-30, 2019. India defeated Pakistan in the tie
match.

19. The South Asian Games (SAG) began in Kathmandu, Nepal.

20. A new book titled titled “The Legacy of Militancy in Punjab: Long Road to Normalcy‘” by civil rights activist Inderjit Singh
Jaijee and journalist Dona Suri was released.

21. Every year 2 December is observed as National Pollution Control Day to commemorate the people who lost their lives in
the unfortunate incident of Bhopal Gas Tragedy that occurred on this day in 1984.

22. India and Sweden are to sign their first maritime cooperation agreement during the Swedish Royal couple visit. The
agreement includes cooperation between the countries in both Arctic and Antarctic regions and hence the name Polar
Science

23. Every year 2 December is observed as International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, across the world. The yearly event
is organized by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and was first celebrated in 1986.

24. The Awards for the first-ever VATAVARAN-2019 Short Film Competition and Festival on Environment was presented in
New Delhi. It was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and Centre for Media
Studies (CMS).

25. Government has launched Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0

26. The UN Climate Change Conference COP 25 began on 2 December 2019. The conference will be held from 2-13
December 2019 in Madrid, Spain. It will take place under the Presidency of the Government of Chile.

27. British racing driver Lewis Hamilton won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2019.
