Reflection

My professional disposition statement for being a future teacher would be to treat

every student fairly. Being honest with myself, my parents, students, and other staff faculty.

Being respectful and treating others with respect. Always being positive and speaking positive

when communicating with teachers and students. Being Professional and presenting

professionalism while in the classroom and school.

My self-assessment supports my professional disposition because as a teacher we have

to treat students fairly and remember that all students do not learn the same. While doing my

student teaching I make sure that I remember and some students need more help than other

students. My self-assessment supports my professional disposition by always being honest with

myself first, especially when I do not know all of the answers. Being honest when

communicating with my parents, students, and other staff faculty when I do not always have

the answers to a question but trying to work together to find the answer. Always being positive

supports my professional dispositions because giving more positive feedback than negative

shows parents and students that they are progressing in the classroom. Parents want to hear

the positive achievements that their child has made in the classroom. They also need to hear

what their child needs to improve on. Being professional and presenting professionalism while

being in the classroom and school supports my professional disposition. As teachers, we have

to be as professional as possible because staff faculty accepts us and looks professional and

students look at us as role models.

I have grown a lot in my professional disposition throughout my program of study by

becoming more dedicated and knowing that being a PreK-4 teacher is something I want to do

for the rest of my life. I have grown by setting more high expectations for myself by identifying

what my strengths and weaknesses are and working on them to become a better teacher.

Having more confidence in myself and believing in myself. When I started at GCU I didn’t have a

lot of confidence and I didn’t believe in myself. After following the professional disposition and

taking advice from teachers. I have the confidence and the drive to be the best and do the best

I can as a teacher. The connection between professional disposition and the model code of

ethics is that they have the same responsibilities that we as teachers are supposed to meet and

follow. The steps that I will take to improve where necessary is to always remember that I do

not know it all and that I have to be patient with students. I will always take steps to go back to
