ABSTRACT
Micofecies analysis and faunal evidence from the stratigraphic sequence of Sinjar
Limestone Formation (Peleooene-Eenly Eocene) integrate three units accumulated in
different zones on an isolated platform with bank-amp depositional profile. These
inckade: (1) a bank-rim buildup composed of red alge with subordinate coral
houndstones, and interior bank dominated by nummulitic shoal-tar grainstone, (2) 2
hackhank lagoon-bay of finer-grained carbenates punctuated by milllids-alvetinids
shoal bar and green alzae, and (3) forcbank rudstones-granstones of red algal-coral snd
Nummlites, Paleoecological deduction point 10 a wurm-temperae climate with colder
peviods during the overgrowth of redkalgal bank which had not acted as effective barrier
to water circulation, The genesis of the Sinjar caroonate tank can be expressed by
alveolinds, miliolids and Nummulites as inner-middle ramp depesits of euphotic
Iesophotic zone comprising foram shoals-lagoomay behind the domain of coralgal
bank in mesovoligophotie zone
