How this activity

works

This is a pyramid

discussion.

Initially, tell
students to work

alone. They will have a

few minutes to decide
which
3 objects they will take to a
desert island. You may
wish to change some of the pictures if your students are younger or if it
offends cultural sensibilities. (eg. Remove the vodka).

Next, tell them that the plan has changed, and now they are going with their
partner. Together, they must compromise on which 3 objects the two of
them will take.

After each pair has decided on their 3 objects, tell them that once again the
plan has changed and they will be going as a 4. Again, they must
compromise in groups of 4.

You may continue this until the whole class is involved, or end it whenever
you want and have a feedback on which items the class considers the most
important.

It works as a nice lead-in to a lesson in which the theme will be desert

islands.
