REFLECTIVE ESSAY IN BIOSOCIAL CRIMINOLOGY

Upon reading this articles it’s enlighten me with the knowledge that biosocial

criminology argues that it is not just environmental and social factors that

influence illegal activity, but also biological factors. Studies show that the

interaction of biological and social factors provides an individual with the perfect

basis for developing some of a criminal's behaviours.

Under the bio-social hypothesis, factors such as early health hazards, biology,

hormones / neurotransmitters, psycho-physiology, and neuropsychology all play a

role in assessing criminal activity. While the origins of criminology lie primarily in

sociological theories of crime and delinquency, resurgence has begun in which

human activity is portrayed as a result of environmental and biological factors,

criminology of bio-sociality. Biosocial criminology includes several viewpoints

that aim to understand the links between genes and human behavior, genetics,

neurobiology, and more. Molecular genetic studies are aimed at revealing which

genes are linked to the trait or action and how strongly they are linked.

Evolutionary psychology attempts to understand why the mechanism of natural

selection has formed and remained a trait or behavior.

Neurobiological studies clarify how characteristics and behavior contribute to

the complicated structure and function. Although the methodology of these

viewpoints differs widely, one truth remains neither environmental nor biological

reasons for human beings

Within biosocial criminology, a large range of viewpoints is evident. These

viewpoints can be used as instruments to reveal various components of the

equation that aim to comprehend human actions. Genetic behavioral studies aim to

clarify what aspect of the difference in a trait or behavior is due to genetic

variables.
