Good Morning / Good Afternoon / Good Evening & Welcome to my

honourable Judges, My dear teachers and to my fellow students and

friends….I’m M.I. Azra 5th std A section and I’m here to take your few
mins to talk about the pets and people….

Everyone knew there is a small relationship between animals and People. From
the very stone age man has been associated with animals. At one stage of
evolution man was just another animal. There was a very little difference. The
rapid development of human brain lifted the man on a higher plane than the rest
of the animals. Put his brotherhood with the animals continued. The scientists
believe that the man evolved from one of the species of monkeys.

Animals serve the human interest in many ways. The wild ones & the domestic
ones , the wild ones create a beautiful environment around us and maintain
ecological balance. The domestic animals like dogs, cats, horses, cattle,
elephants, pigs, hens, ducks, turkeys, sheep, ponies, mules, yaks, camels,
llamas, ostriches, reindeers etc. these animals add joy and happiness to our lives
at homes. The relationship and love between a man and his pet are stable and
lasts life- long. A pet does not make any demands from its master except love
and in return it gives love without arty conditions. The pets respond better to
our care, love and friendship. It is a sweet relationship. The friendship between
humans rarely lasts long and it is never unconditional.

The human friendships is subject to motives, self-interests, incomplete trust,

convenience and a host of pre-conditions. Pet, animals, birds and other
creatures are never ungrateful. They are friends forever. Foul play, scheming,
deceit and betrayal are not in their nature. Most of the animals are our true
friends. In true harmony they live with us and make the life enjoyable.

Having a pet is an interesting experience because they usually understand a lot

of the words used by humans. Most surprisingly, they have been found good at
interpreting the tone of human voice gestures and body language. Having a pet
will make anyone feel in the company of a great friend.Pets fill the house with
activity and give their masters emotional satisfaction and bonding. Pets are at
the service house members and are faithful beings. They take care of the house
and are faithful to there masters. At times strong bonding and affectionate
relationship with a pet brings about immense emotional satisfaction, happiness
and joy. Pets such as dogs are really faithful animals and spending an evening
with your pet dog can be better than spending time with someone who is
unfriendly and quarrelsome. Common pets are dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, horses
etc

I would like to say say few words about 2 important pets and their bondage
with the people which are most important and commonly used across globe as
pets

The dog is man’s oldest friend and the dearest. It is our companion, protector,
guide and its presence has soothing effect.

Dogs help the law as well by serving as police dogs. They serve in wars also.
Dogs help in hunting and in rearing sheep too. They prove wonderful guides for
blind and old people. In snow bound areas the dogs draw sledges. They also
help in rescuing travellers lost in snow storms or buried in snow. Now-a- days,
doctors prescribe pet dogs to mentally troubled people, mentally retracted kids
or the people with frayed nerves. The company of dogs keeps the nerves calmed
down. There are a number of different breeds of dogs for different purposes.
The loyalty of the dogs is legendary. Amazing stories of the loyal deeds of dogs
keep appearing in the media.

Cats are kept as pets, as we hear the stories they are used to kill rat species. But
actually they are one of the wonderful god created species. They look pretty and
add beauty to the house. Women particularly are fond of cats. They are good to
play with and are cuddle some. They make a good constant company.
Likewise there are plenty of other pets which give value add to the human life.

Now we have to look on the other side of the coin or world how peoples
behaviour or attitude towards caring about pet. A significant point that has been
brought up by animal right activists is that many animals are been abused or
tortured by the people. This abuse inflicted on animals is, in many cases caused
by frustration caused by an outside conflict either work stress , school or
relationships etc…Similarly there are many cases that came on news papers
about human behaviour towards animals. There are many irresponsible pet
owners who do not feed their dogs and cats, in particular, on time as well as
ensuring these animals are taken for walks, bathed regularly and taken to the vet
when they require medical treatment. We see, read and hear many sad stories of
dogs and cats being abandoned as soon as the owner feels the animals have
outlived their usefulness. Many are abused and ill treated.

Pet owners must discharge their duties responsibly by feeding these animals
under their care with proper food, exercising them and ensuring they get
medical treatment as well as the required yearly vaccination.Pet owners must
ensure the surroundings are kept clean by collecting and disposing of animal
waste properly. There are many complaints we read in the newspapers of how
neighbours are exposed to the stench from animal waste as well as dogs being
chained up for long hours and hence, bark incessantly creating nuisance and
discomfort in the neighbourhood.

So we need to remember that keeping a pet at home should not be a cause of

nuisance and botheration for others. You must ensure that your pet does not
cause harm to others in your neighbourhood. Thus keeping a pet at home can
really bring your home to life and keeps your neighbourhood safe and sound
from unforeseen danger and calamity. There are stories of pets saving the lives
of family members they live with. Thus adopting a pet at home gives a sense of
security as well.

Finally , before i conclude I would like to say what the research and analysis
say about ‘how pets can value add to human life’

I have read in an article stated in times of India “Reasons why you should keep
a pet?” They have 8 reasons for having a pet :

1) Pets can enhance your mood:

Whether you believe it or not, pets are a great way to improve your mood and
temperament. Research has shown that people who suffer from various diseases
have lesser chances of depression if they keep pets as compared to those who
are suffering from similar diseases and don’t keep pets.

2) Help to control blood pressure :

Health experts say that dog owners have less blood pressure and heart rates.
This eventually reduces the need to take medicines and also helps reduce
cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
3) A source of exercise :
Want someone who will accompany you for walks? Dogs can be great
companions and will happily go out for walks, at times even urging you for a
walk, when you’re too tired, thereby keeping you active and fit. Other activities
related to pets like feeding, bathing, playing and cleaning are also good ways to
exercise.

4) An antidote for loneliness :

No matter how low or lonely you keep, a pet will always be there for you.
Whether you want to pour your heart out to them or tell them your secrets, you
know it’s all safe with them! Pets give you unconditional love and are always
faithful.

5) Reduce stress :
Stressed out? Pets are known to reduce stress and anxiety levels. Experts say
that people can get relieve from stress and depression, if they spend time with
their pets.

6) Long life:
Several studies have revealed that people who tend to spend their time with pets
are more likely to live longer than people who don’t.

7) Better social skills:

Want to improve your social skills? It is said that people who keep pets are said
to be good in their social relations. Kids who grow up with pets at home are
always respectful towards living things.

8) Safety:
Having a dog at home is especially good because they also double up as
caretakers. No burglar alarm can be better than a dog at home.

With these reasons i would like to conclude my speech on the relationship

between Pets and people. Hope you all enjoyed my speech and understood
the importance of pets in human life… Thank you so much for giving me
the opportunity and Have a nice day!!!
