1. Compare Ateneo municipal and UST in terms of the treatment accorded to Rizal.
 During Rizal’s study at Ateneo, he was discriminated by his classmates and professors,
mainly because he had only a little knowledge about Spain, and also the fact that he was
form Calamba, Laguna. He was also a late enrollee, so that added up to the situation. On
the other hand, Rizal was granted the rare permission of studying simultaneously the
preparatory course to and the first year of medicine in UST, which proves that the
Spanish Dominicans did not racially discriminate against him. Rizal also attained the
grade, “notable” (very good) during his fourth year, placing him behind Cornelio Mapa
who earned the mark sobresaliente (excellent).
2. Why did rizal decided to go to Europe?
 He left the country not just to complete his medical studies in Europe, he also wanted to
make a name for himself in the realm of journalism; to observe and study European
society ; and to prepare himself for the task of liberating the Filipinos from Spanish
tyranny.
3. Was rizal a student activist at UST? Explain
 No, because in his letter he just described what he have seen during the protest
championing academic freedom. Rizal did not say that he himself was a direct participant
in the rallies, but through his eyewitness account one can glean that he was by no means
an “objective” or indifferent bystander.A
