Dear admission committee,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Kevin Tom. Kevin has been my
student for the last semester and also I am his Final Year Project guide. During this period, I observed
many things a student should possess in his career in him. He plans well and works diligently at being
organized in studies as well as in projects he does. His preparation is thorough and the results are
evident for the work he has done.

I am his guide for his final year project and his interest towards learning new things and teaching it to his
teammates has always surprised me. The project he is currently doing is related to integrating
electronics and medical field (Detection of diabetics using breathe) and he had limited knowledge about
it when we first met and discussed the idea. After a week when we met he gave a full detailed plan and
scientific explanation about how the detection is done, by referring to different journals and meeting
with professionals in the field (He met with doctors in a nearby medical college). There was this problem
with the sensor which is to be used for measurement of breath acetone, it was not giving correct
measurement values when used alone, he came up with unique idea to optimize the sensor
measurement by using another humidity sensor to maintain an optimal humidity of breath, the
measurement was only taken if the breath was at optimal humidity. This was found by him by reading
and carefully observing the datasheet of the sensor. This dedication towards work will help him in
career. As I observed he is interested in fields related Embedded systems and Control system. He is
interested in fields where there is a merging of hardware and software, so I think Embedded systems is
apt for his interest.

I have found Kevin to be uniquely resourceful and adaptive. He is receptive to new ideas and constantly
looks for innovative methods to solve a problem. He is thorough and precise. He does not stop trying
while solving a problem and always works with optimism, this helps him solve even the hardest
problem. This optimism of his also motivates his teammates as I observed. He represented our
university in an international competition in USA conducted by NASA. He leadership skills in leading a
team is evident from the result from the competition.

In addition to the above, Kevin manages his studies as well as co-curricular activities very well. I taught
him Mobile Communication this semester. He handles detailed work with skill and accuracy. He is also
an active student in my class, he listens carefully and asks doubts which are relevant and sometimes his
doubts helped me learn new things. He one among the best students I have taught in my teaching
career. He started his own club in our department to promote space technology among students. They
are very active in promoting the club as well as managing the club with passion and integrity.
As a teacher for past several years and one who is profoundly interested in developing high quality
students, I strongly endorse Mr. Kevin Tom. He has the intellect, passion, and communicative skills to be
an outstanding student, and I recommend him without reservation, knowing, he is eminently worthy of
top consideration for your engineering program. You can contact me at vpms1408@sjce.ac.in if you
have any further queries.

Yours faithfully,
