Teachers Narrative Report

Education
continues despite this
pandemic. And as we
adopt the printed
modular distance
learning delivery
modality, we started
the opening of
school year by
providing Mental
Health Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) to all learners. Through the MHPSS we can see how
ready our learners are in terms of mental and psychosocial aspects.
As the learners are working on the MHPSS modules, I keep on tracking on them and see to it that
they are accomplishing the activities in the module. I was able to asked how are they doing and if they
have any concerns through the different communication platforms like messenger group chats, phone
calls, and text messages. One of the concerns I receive from them was that the texts in the module on
MHPSS was too small that they find difficulty in reading it. And I suggested them to ask assistance from
the member of their household. In fact, one of the parents said that her daughter learner has poor eyesight.
However, the parent was very supportive and that she helps her daughter read the texts for her. Other
concerns were if they will be allowed to answer in Tagalog. Because I believed that would be the case for
them to best express their feelings, so I allowed them to.
Since the parents are the facilitator at home, I always connect with them. The best thing I see on
most parents was that they make themselves available when it comes to distribution and retrieval of
modules. But when it comes to being a facilitator of learning, only a few will do. Some are busy for work,
others are busy on household chores. However, I still encouraged them to make time and help attained
learnings of their child.
My reflections on the MHPSS module was that, it will be helpful for us to know learners’
situations, feelings, and emotions brought by pandemic and be able to normalize their reactions. With
that, we can make necessary approach on their educational needs.
