What is the truth?

The summer came and Rachel didn’t speak of leaving with Philip. He was ill and he had a
terrible pain in his head. Rachel told him that she had a lot of business to do. When Rachel was
busy at home. Philip went to rode into the town alone. He saw a man who came out on an
inn. He was Rainaldhi.

That evening Philip asked her if How long had Rainaldhi been in the town? , she answer him
that He was her friend also she asked him If was he jealous ? . He said Yes.

He was angry and she said him that don’t touch her .

Philip said if she want to see Rainaldhi, she asked him here. He said her You shouldn’t go
secretly into the town to meet Rainaldhi.

He permitted Rainaldhi to stay in the house and also they should be careful and they shouldn’t
be together. Philip was sick and he had to stay in bed for a few days.

Rachel said him that Rainaldhi had gone back to Italy a few days ago.

After that they were drinking tinsana and had arrived a letter of Rainaldhi .

He had thought that Rachel was poisoning him because of the flavor of his medicine.

Philip was very un happy . He had remembered his cousin’s words .

The following day was Sunday they went to the church as usual. He wished could hate her but
he couldn’t .

After dinner Rachel was kinder than she had been for a long time. She talked him abut
Florence and other things . She gave him tinsana but he refused to drink.

She said him that it was good for him.

But he said no .

At final Rachel went to the sunken garden and she didn’t return. He went to look for her and
she was in the grown below. He held her hands until still she died.

Philip continue living alone and . He thinks only in the past. The two people that he loved are

dead.
