Set IE browser security settings to allow a document to be created on the desktop

as follows:

1. Navigate to Tools -> Internet Options and choose the Security tab
2. Select Local Intranet and choose the Custom Level button.
3. Set the option "Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe" to "Prompt" or
"Enable".
4. On the Security tab, select Trusted Sites and do the same thing.

Set Microsoft Internet Explorer required settings for downloading to Excel


Interface as follows.

1. Select 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options -> 'Security' (Tab) from the browser menu.
2. Select the appropriate zone i.e. 'Trusted Sites' -> 'Custom Level' (button)
3. Under the 'Downloads' section ensure 'File download' is enabled.

Set the following Internet Explorer Scripting setting.

1. Select 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options -> 'Security' (Tab) from the browser menu.
2. Select the appropriate zone you are using i.e. 'Trusted Sites' -> 'Custom Level' (button)
3. Set 'Allow Status bar updates via script' to 'Enable'.

Set the following Internet Explorer setting (most common for IE8)

1. Add your site name (instance URL) to trusted sites for IE8
2. Then for "Trusted Sites" security zone, set the security setting
"Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" to prompt

To allow programmatic access from Excel to the Visual Basic project, follow
these steps:

Excel 2003

1. On the Tools menu, point to Macro and then click Security.


2. In the Security dialog box, click the Trusted Sources tab.
3. Click to select the Trust access to Visual Basic Project check box.
Excel 2007 & Office 2010 32bit and 64 bit

1. Click the Office Button (top-left button in the window)


2. Click the 'Excel Options' button.
3. Click 'Trust Center' link from the menu on the left.
4. Click 'Trust Center Settings...' button.
5. In the 'Trust Center' window click 'Macro Settings' link from the menu on the left.
6. Under 'Macro Settings' check 'Disable all macros with notification'.
7. Under 'Developer Macro Settings' check 'Trust Access to the VBA project object model'.
8. Click 'OK' button to close the 'Trust Center' window.
9. Click 'OK' button to return to the spreadsheet.
