The strengths of Kopi Luwak are:

1) The production process. The production process starts by picking up the beans from the
coffee tree, and then feeding them to the civet cats which prefer eating the ripest coffee
cherries. The coffee beans are then removed from the feces of the civet to be roasted and
turned into ground coffee.
2) Its delicious flavour.
Kopi luwak has a special flavour which results from the fermentation process in the digestion
of coffee beans in the civet. Kopi luwak drinkers enjoy a special taste of this luxurious coffee.

The weaknesses of Kopi Luwak are:

1)Expensive Price.

The Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee in the world. The price of one cup of coffee ranges
between 35 and 100 $, which is a lot higher than the price of the average cup of coffee. The price of
the pound of the Kopi Luwak coffee ranges between 100 and 600 dollars, which is up to 60 times
higher than the price of the pound of normal coffee which ranges between 3 to 10 dollars.

2)Low Production Scale

The Kopi Leak’s production is very low with respect to the normal coffee’s production. Each year,
only 250 to 500 kilograms of Kopi Luwak are produced, while 900 tons of normal coffee is produced.

3)Cruelty to civet cats

The farmers of this expensive bean found a high demand on the coffee and started to harvest the
beans unnaturally by caging a large amount of civets and overfeeding them unripe coffee beans. This
causes them to become ill and die very quickly.

The threats that Kopi Luwak face are:

1) Fake Coffee

The high price of the Kopi Luwak attracts some people to fake it. 70% of Kopi Luwak sold on the
internet and in the stores is fake, and 5000% of Kopi Luwak is sold each year more than it is
produced.

2) Triggering the animal welfare organizations

The cruel treatment of the civets provokes the animal welfare organizations such as the “World
Animal Protection” to save their rights by campaigning to stop the supply of caged civet coffee and
allowing only the wild-sourced coffee.

3)Intense Competition

Kopi Luwak is subjected to intense competition from different enterprises which sell tea and coffee.

The opportunities for the Kopi Luwak are:

1)High Market Share

The low availability of products in the market leads to high market share and greater sales of Kopi
Luwak.

2)Improvement of standards of living
