Case Study: A client is a pregnant woman for the first time. She often experiences heartburn and
constipation. Her usual food intake is outlined below. What particular recommendations would you
offer to ensure that she will have an adequate nutrition throughout the gestational period?

Loves to eat baked products like cakes, pastries and cookies.

Craves for potato chips and fish crackers

Eats a serving of vegetables, usually potato or chayote each day

During Pregnancy, Woman carrying a baby may increase his sweet food cravings, but it is not healthy to
the mother and to the baby, she needs an adequate and enough nutrients to support her and her baby
by intaking healthy products, there are some healthy baked foods like homemade organic cookies, when
you are pregnant you need to have a healthy lifestyle throughout the gestational period. Taking too
much sugar may have a negative impact to the growth of the baby. Organic foods and vitamins intake
are one lf the healthier options during pregnancy. Cravings are normal for pregnat women but they
should avoid eating too much vegetable oil and potato chips as it may result in an increased risk of
pregnancy complications and poor development of the baby. I will recommend to try a homemade
crackers and chips is one of the healthiest way for those pregnant women who are craving for chips.
Adequate and enough nutrition are very significant to the growth and development of the baby, taking a
healthy diet may avoid the risk of pregnancy complications. Potatoes and chayote are one of the highly
recommended vegetables which a pregnant woman may eat, these are just some of the healthy
vegetable to provide enough nutrients to the mother and also to the baby.

Good nutrition during pregnancy can help to keep you and your developing baby healthy. I will
recommend certain nutrients, such as iron, iodine and folate, increases when you are pregnant.
