Skills Laboratory: biogeochemistry and analytical chemistry lab routines, gas chromatography, stable
isotope work (15 N) and 15 N2 tracer methods, HPLC, Dionex, Atomic Absorption spectroscopy,
TOC/TN analyzer, AutoAnalyzer by Lachat (nitrate, ammonia and sulfur methods), and basic
molecular techniques: electrophoresis gels, PCR, cloning, primer design.

Field: gas flux chamber measurements, monitoring of atmospheric deposition with ion exchange resin
columns, vegetation surveys, peat coring, field and laboratory acetylene reduction assays, weather
station data acquisition, operating field trucks in all weather conditions, driving ATVs, etc.

Computer: proficient in statistical analyses (R, JMP, SAS, STATA), graphing program SigmaPlot.
