Stretch balloon first!!

Need to include cold water bottle as control

Independent: temp of bottle

Dependant: change in size of balloon

Controls: time bottle left with water, amount of water used, size of bottle used, type of balloon, time left to fill balloon

Hypothesis: The bottle that is heated will have a greater change in the size of the balloon

Results: hot bottle balloon got bigger.

Conclusion: Hypothesis supported, hot bottle balloon got bigger.

Answer Qs:

1. Physical change. No change in colour, bubbles etc. Just size of balloon

2. The gas inside the bottle was heated and therefor expanded. When the balloon was placed on top, the gases could not escape any other way except into the
balloon. As the gas cooled, it contracted and the balloon got smaller
3. When a gas expands, the particles get further apart. This means they take up a greater area or have a greater volume. A cooler substance has the particles packed
closer together and therefore takes up less volume.
