I buried a friend today

not under a tombstone

but in the labyrinth of winding halls

of words that swirl up

coiling like cigarette smoke

Are you really gone?

Did you get what you wanted?

I saw night city ignite

and your teeth in the morning

before the embers even cooled

they signed the papers

a man in tired stripes

standing over us

smearing us into the concrete

the only solid thing in the world is steel

or so I thought

life is a glint

a flash

flood

before the hollow canyon of her face

I don’t know what’s next V

But I know there has to be something better than this

So heres to not knowing
