SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Health Department has confirmed a Covid-19 breakout among
medical frontliners as well as patients in the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in
Klang.

Selangor health director Datuk Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman said that currently, no less than 50
medical personnel have been infected with Covid-19.

They are now undergoing treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, he said.

"An investigation by the state health department as well as the hospital has so far failed to
pinpoint the source of the outbreak. This could have taken place before patients were
warded in the hospital or even when the patients were undergoing the 14-day incubation
period.

"The situation, however, is under control.

"All close contacts have undergone swab testing and placed under the Home Surveillance
Order (HSO. All patients who were contacts of the cases have also undergone swab tests.

"Management of patients in HTAR is proceeding as usual and is under control," he said.

Dr Sha'ari said the hospital has always exercised caution and constantly ensures that its
staff adhere to the standard operating procedures, such as wearing personal protective
equipment (PPE).

"The probability of Covid-19 infection has heightened due to the Klang district now
categorised as a red zone, as well as the increase in Severe Acute Respiratory Infection
(SARI) being treated at HTAR," he said.

He advised the public against visiting the hospital if there are no urgent matters at hand.

"The public should also refrain from spreading any unverified information so as not to
trigger any unnecessary panic and confusion within the community.

"The state health department has always worked towards ensuring that preventive
measures are in place among the hospital's staff as well as patients," he said.
