 Mentees will learn good tips to deal with the heavy stress that comes with
being a university student

   
Introduction: (what information do mentees need from me before activity?)
 I will give them a backstory of my second semester in first year where I felt
stressed out and saw my grades drop and I felt absolutely helpless

 I will ask mentees help me come with a list of tips that they would offer to 1 st
year me to help cope with the stress
o Eating well
o Getting enough sleep
o Exercise
o Being mindful

o Have me-time (taking time to do things you actually enjoy)
 Listening to music, having a beer, going out w/ friends

o Talk to someone (friends, advisors, family, etc.)

 Mentees will learn that there are a variety of HEALTHY ways to deal with
stress
 Some things that we may do to cope may actually be detrimental and have
the opposite effect that we’re hoping for

 Mentees will learn tips on how to deal with the stress associated with post-
secondary education using healthy coping mechanisms
 This will be done by a group discussion where students will have an
opportunity to share what methods have worked personally for them
