“HARMONY IN HUMANITY”

Humans. The ultimate creatures created by God. Created in the image and likeness of
God. Created to rule earth and all other creatures. Human supposed to make this world a
paradise. To live in peace and harmony with other creature. But, is human bring peace to the
world or destruction? Ladies and gentleman. My name is Ivan Joel Napoleon and I’m from
Strada Budi Luhur Vocational High School. Today I would like to talk about humanity. First of
all. What is humanity ? Humanity can be defined as quality of being a human. The true nature of
human such as kind, thoughtful and sympathethic towards other. Humanity distinguished us from
other creature such as animals and plants. But, just because you are a human doesn’t mean you
have humanity.

Throughout the history of man. We have witnessed a lot of war. Human wage war against
other human in the name of peace. World War One caused 40 million casualties from both
civilians and military. Does it create peace ? No it creates the Second World War that caused 70-
85 milion casualties. Even after world war has ended, the world does not become peaceful.
Conflict continues to emerge because of discrimination, racism, struggle for resources and
others. And now in 2019 we are not safe from a possible nuclear war. It is safe to assume that
nuclear war will destroy our world if it happens. Albert Einstein once said that world war IV will
be fought with stick and stones. It shows that even after human lose everything they won’t let go
of their ego and their lack of empathy. But this isn’t the true nature of human right ? God didn’t
create us to be like this.

People can argue that discrimination, racism, sexism and lack of empathy are produced
by this world. Yes it is inheritance from our ancestors. Over the generations human inherit this
problem, no wonder world is such a cruel place to live. But when does this cycle will stop ? Why
do our future generation have to bear our fault in the past? If this is keep happening, then the
world will not be destroyed by aliens, but the world will be destroyed by human themselves. No
wonder so many people give up on humanity. But, Mahatma Gandhi once said Never Lose Faith
in Humanity. And I choose to believe. In humanity. I believe that when humans unite nothing
can stop us.

So what are we waiting for let us create a better world for our child, our grand children,
our future generation. The world without racism, discrimination, and sexism. Yes, we cannot
change our past, but just because a few drops of ocean get dirty doesn’t mean the whole ocean
will get dirty. We should follow the example of Mother Theresa. She spent her life helping poor
and sick people in Calcutta. That is humanity. But we doesn’t have to go to India to improve
humanity. Humanity can be found even in simplest of act. Such as helping elderly people to
cross the street, help your mom wash the dishes, giving you seat to pregnant women in bus is
humanity. You see it is a simple thing to do, but if everyone do it, then this world will become a
better place. There is a quotes saying being human is given but keeping our humanity is a choice.
So let’s throw away our ego and unite as one. As humanity and create a Paradise for our future
generation to live on. That’s all I can say for today. And remember ladies and gentleman. Your
kindness act is the best form of humanity. So what are you waiting for? Start making this world a
better place for our next generation. Thank you for your attention.
