I think the most applicable human right in the Philippines today, is

article number 6 which is “Everyone has the right to equal and fair
treatment under the law”, it is 21st century and still we are suffering of
inequality in every aspect in our nation and people will only respect you
based on your status in life. Moreover, as I grow up, I considered myself
who belongs in the middle class and I just accepted the fact that only rich
people have the privilege to do freely what they want, for the law will
always by their side. To discuss the circumstances that attest to the
inequality of the justice system in the Philippines, Sheila Crisostomo (2020)
broadcast in OneNews Ph that
certain government officials and their families are getting “VIP” treatment
and being tested for 2019 coronavirus disease even though they do not
show symptoms or have not been exposed to anyone infected.
Nevertheless, the Department of Health (DOH) has said that there are not
enough test kits, so they would prioritize the testing of those exhibiting
symptoms but they clearly done the opposite.

Furthermore, Jeline Malasig (2020) discussed in her article in that six

jeepney drivers of the transport group called ‘Pinagkaisang Samahan ng
mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide’ or known as ‘Piston 6’ was arrested
for protesting for their livelihood as jeepneys were banned from operating in
accordance with the quarantine protocols for COVID-19. The ‘Piston 6’
were not released until the bail was posted which occurred a week after.
The oldest of them was Elmer Cordero of age 72. Presidential
Spokesperson Harry Roque stated during a briefing that one must face
their pending case regardless of age. Having said that, the case of the
former first lady, Imelda Marcos contradicts the statement evidently.
Despite being proven guilty of seven counts of graft in 2018, she remains
free two years later as she is “already too old” for police casing.
To conclude, the rising gap between
society’s most and least affluent is constantly widening here in our country.
The COVID-19 pandemic simply revealed that the Philippine government is
not exerting the necessary efforts in alleviating the situation of the less
fortunate. This lack of compassion is something that Filipinos must stand
against.
