Do you think the management of the Magat dam exercised a good decision upon releasing the gates

which intensified the flooding in Central Luzon? What principle/s have they applied regarding this
matter?

Magat Dam, a large rock-fill dam in Isabela, is located on the Magat River, a major tributary of
Cagayan River. Built to last for 50 years, Magat Dam is one of the largest in the Philippines. It is a
multi-purpose dam that is used primarily for irrigating about 85,000 hectares of agricultural lands,
flood control, and power generation through the Magat Hydroelectric Power Plant. The water stored
in the dam's reservoir is enough to supply about two months of normal energy requirements. During
the peak of Typhoon Ulysses, the water from the Magat Dam was released because it was said to
prevent more devastating floods.

In my own perspective, I don’t think the management of the Magat Dam implemented a good
decision upon releasing the gates because, first, it will give destruction to the two near towns of
Isabela
