OBJECTIVE

The design shall emphasize the significance of contextual factors in architecture through
design of climatically and environmentally responsive architecture. The design project shall
be a Resort on a contoured site. It shall be drawn from local traditions, practices and ,
construction materials, respecting topography, building typology and climate. Due regard
shall be paid to earthquake proof constructions and techniques in hills which will be
explored first and then implemented in the design. There will also be many limitations such
as non-availability & transportation of construction materials, high site development cost as
compared to building in the plains. Further factors to be considered include limitations in
height, appropriate vegetation, soil erosion, landslides, scarce water supply, heavy rainfall,
drainage etc.
Besides the planning aspects in hills, the students shall also explore the and anthropometric
data for the planning of resorts and its various functions in the serene environment of hills
taking into consideration the site as well as the creative, innovative and challenging
architecture of similar scale and nature must also be included in the pre-design stages of the
resort by library studies of resorts in India and other countries.
