    Born on the 14th of January 1898 at Camiling, Tarlac,
    Captaincy General of the Philippines
    In 1923, Dr. Carlos Romulo, studying in the Philippines and the
    United States, became a professor of English at the University of
    the Philippines. At the same time, Romulo acted as secretary to
    the President of the Philippine Senate, Manuel Quezon. Romulo
    became The Philippines Herald's publisher and editor during
    the 1930s, and Yay Panlilio was one of his reporters. Major Carlos
    Romulo served as an aide to General MacArthur at the
    beginning of WWII, reaching the rank of general by the end of
    that war.
