NOTICE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces,
that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow
this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
3.
4.
Installation
1. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the No. 1 piston is 45 degrees BTDC using the guide holes on the engine front cover and the crankshaft pulley.
2.
4. NOTE: The Crankshaft TDC Timing Peg will contact the crankshaft and prevent it from turning past TDC. However, the crankshaft can still be rotated in the
counterclockwise direction. The crankshaft must remain at the TDC position during installation.
NOTE: The engine front cover is removed from graphic for clarity.
5. NOTE: Do not tighten the CKP bolts at this time.
7.
9. Torque: 20 Nm
10.
12. After completing the repair, use the scan tool to perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure, following the on-screen instructions.
