Environmental Factors Proposed Activity

Give up plastic bags. Take your own

1. Overuse (or excessive) of reusable ones to the store. Since we
plastics have a lot of ecobags at home, try to
put it in the back of the car so you don’t
end up forgetting it. Follow the 5R's
principle (Refuse, Reduce, Recycle,
reuse and Recovery) to save and protect
the environment

 I will skip the use of plastic straws

 I will pass up plastic bottles and
invest in a refillable water bottle
instead.
 I will Avoid plastic packaging
when possible.

Unplug electronic devices from the

2. Excessive use of electricity socket when not in use.

 I will make it a habit to unplug the

unused appliances and turn off the
lights.
 Set a lights off rule on the
household
Inform the household about to learn this
new habit.

Put off the water immediately after

3. Excessive use of water using it.

 I will make it a habit to turn off the

water when not in use.
 Impart this knowledge to the
household so that everybody will
put this into practice

Project Proposal: Excessive use of plastic

The focus of this proposed activity is the excess use of plastics, especially when
going out for grocery shopping. Plastic takes several years to get decomposed which
is not environmentally friendly and causes pollution. Burning of plastic is a very slow
process, and they do not get burnt completely. This causes air pollution because
poisonous gases are released into the environment during the combustion of plastics.

Say NO TO PLASTICS! My proposal of following the 5R's principle (Reduce,

Reuse, Recycle, Refuse and Repurpose) will ensure that we don’t bring back any
more unnecessary plastic bags at home, especially after grocery shopping. This will
help save and protect the environment. It will discipline us not to depend too much on
the use of plastic, as it poses a threat to our environment. With this, I will put up
signages around the house to remind the people to be cautious in their use of plastic.
This will make sure that everyone at home will properly segregate the plastics from
the other categories.

One way to ensure that this is being followed is by making a chart or a schedule
for each of our responsibilities at home. We will post this chart somewhere visible in
our home where everyone can see it, wherein each member of the family will have an
individual role to fulfill. For example, every Saturday, there will be an assigned
member in the family who will put the ecobag at the back of the car, since we
normally do our grocery shopping the next day. And then, for the next person, they
will oversee segregating all the plastics away from the other categories.

Articles made up plastics such as plastic bags or plastic bottles do not rot when
they are thrown away after use. The waste plastic keeps accumulating in the
surroundings and pollutes the environment. Thus, Plastics are not environment
friendly.

Brief Summary of things to fulfill:

1. Make a chart/schedule of roles and responsibilities for each member.
2. Make a checklist that will be posted near the door or somewhere visible at
home (bright colored – so that everyone will see and notice immediately)
3. Journal monitoring – at the end of each week, record the number of plastics
that were used and check if it has increased or if there has been improvement
over the weeks.
