Dan Corrales bio.

My wife and I attended Crockett and graduated Bulldogs. After MC I graduated from law school in NY and
my wife graduated from Texas Tech. We decided to raise our family in Midland after she and I had lived away
in Tennessee and New York City, respectively. Our youngest, Elijah is on the Autism spectrum, and for the
sake of safety and a better quality of place and life we chose to raise him in Midland. He is fortunate enough to
attend Bynum School on a scholarship as well as MARC’s Spectrum of Solutions.

Our other kiddo is Austin, 15 years old and enrolled in drama at Midland High School and brings home plenty
of drama. She is my wife’s niece, whom we adopted due to her father’s issues with addictive susceptibilities.
She is phenomenal with Eli and helps us out tremendously. We run 5 dry cleaners and have developed a
Golden Chick on Florida Ave in addition to the dry cleaners adjacent to it.

I started out in construction while working on my undergrad in New York City and working as a fire safety
director for a real estate developer. On 9/11 I was inspecting a sprinkler tank on the roof of a building on the
Brooklyn waterfront and saw the planes hit the towers; some of the firefighters I knew went in the World
Trade Center and never returned. That’s when I decided to join the military. During a live fire training exercise
at Ft. Benning I was shot and lost bone in my hip and in the hand - severing muscle, tendons and nerves. I was
honorably medically discharged from the U.S. Army as an E-3.

Facing early retirement from the military I decided to fulfill a dream I had since I took a Business Law class at
Midland College in 1996. Nancy Hart was the professor and I loved that class. I used the Post 9/11 GI Bill to
attend Brooklyn Law School a decade later.  While attending Brooklyn Law School, I worked in the Manhattan
District Attorney’s Office as a paralegal and subsequently served as a student prosecutor under U. S. Attorney
General Loretta Lynch. and as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn.

After graduating from law school the first time around with a Juris Doctor, I moved to Europe to obtain a joint
Master’s degree in Sports Law from St. John’s University School of Law and internationally-renowned ISDE
School of Law and Business in Barcelona, Spain. I then practiced sports law in Spain and Switzerland before
moving back to the United States.

6 years ago I moved back to Midland where I have focused on real estate development and legal work in that
realm. Between building Golden Chick, Pristine Organic Cleaners and New Method Cleaners I spend the
majority of time outside of work with Elijah, taking him to Bynum School & MARC for ABA therapy and
Speech therapy.

While constructing Pristine we had a very unfortunate even that changed our lives. In January of 2017 while
eating dinner at home and watching television I laughed at the wrong time and a piece of food went down my
trachea. By the time my wife looked over and saw me, I had fallen on the floor and was blue. When EMS
arrived, I had no pulse. CPR efforts failed and I was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital where after 20
minutes without oxygen they got my heart beating again. I slipped into a coma, the odds were against me. The
doctors told my wife that more than likely I would be in a vegetative state and if I did wake up the brain
damage would be severe. After two weeks, I awakened to my wife asking if I knew who she was. I said ‘Of
course, I know who you are—you’re my wife.’  There was no sign of brain injury.  It truly was a miracle and
the doctors had no explanation as to why I wasn’t paralyzed or brain dead.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson to appreciate the time that we have while we draw breath and to
appreciate those whom we are fortunate enough to share that time with. I have a great deal of faith in God and
providence and try to live my life in the service of others so as to honor the length of time I’ve been given
back. I thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and for giving back to veterans that give so much
for us.
