1. What is strategic management? Define in your own words.

Strategic management is the strategic use of the tools of an organization to accomplish the
goals and objectives of the company. Strategic management includes awareness of processes and
policies within the organisation as well as external influences that may have an effect on the
operation of the enterprise. The strategic management framework should direct activities and
decisions at the top level.

2. Kindly discuss the different levels of strategy in strategic management process.

There is a clear hierarchy in levels of strategy, corporate level at the top, business level is
derive at the corporate level and lastly the functional level.

Corporate level approach describes the industry fields in which your organization works. It
deals with the alignment of resource deployments across a complex range of similar or unrelated
business fields. The plan design at this stage includes the incorporation and operation of the
different companies and the synergy at the organizational level.

Business level are designed for particular corporate business divisions which apply to a
different product-market sector. The formulation of the business-level approach is based on the
general strategy of overall cost leadership, distinction and emphasis.

Functional level techniques refer to the various functional fields of the strategic business
organization, such as marketing, development and service, finance and human resources. Functional
strategies include the development of short-term functional priorities, which would contribute to
the execution of a business-level approach.

3. What is the difference between strategic human resources and human resource strategies?

Manpower regulation of the enterprise in a comprehensive and systematic manner is


called Human Resources Management or HRM. A management role that includes drawing up HR
plans in such a way as to steer the actions of workers against the aims of the company is known
as the SHRM. The HRM mechanism is of a reactive nature. SHRM, on the other hand, is a
constructive management tool.
