This document contains information about Community Patch 1.75.

This patch is official and has been developed by the Community Patch Team.

We would like to thank the staff members of Spellbound who kindly contributed fixes
to
Community Patch 1.6.

1. You install this patch at your own risk!


No responsibility is taken for potential problems arising after
installation.

2. The Community Patch 1.75 can only be uninstalled by uninstalling Gothic 3


completely.

3. All previous patches are automatically uninstalled or overwritten resp.

3.1 The Ini Backup which may have been created by previous CPs will also be
deleted.
This is necessary because installing this patch will result in important
changes
to the "ge3.ini" file.

3.2 All ini files of the game will be exchanged by the patch. They must not be
replaced
with an older versions, because this will cause errors.

4. Gothic 3 modifications may lead to problems during the installation of this


patch.
Please uninstall/delete them before the installation (including all related
files
in the Gothic 3 folder).

5. Savegames that have been created before installing CP 1.75 can't be used
with
CP 1.75 anymore.

6. The patched game will only support shader model 3.0 or higher.

7. The previous profile of technical requirements appeared to be slightly


understated
for reasonable performance. Revised estimation:

Minimal requirements:
- Intel or AMD Single Core Processor (2.5 GHz)
- 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB with Windows Vista and 7)
- Windows XP
- ATI X1900 or nVidia 7900 with 256 MB RAM
- Mouse, keyboard, DVD drive
- DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
- DirectX 9.0c (will be installed with the patch)
- 3 GB hard disk memory

Recommended requirements:
- Intel or AMD multi core CPU (3.0 GHz)
- 2 GB RAM (3 GB with Windows Vista and 7)
- Radeon HD 4860, Geforce 9800 with 512 MB RAM or more

2. Known issues
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite the fact that since the first CPT release a four digit number of fixes have
been
and the fact that the game is much more stable right now, there are still a few
stability
issues and other bugs which could not been fixed yet.

1. High resolution texture settings will still result in a higher crash


frequency than
mid or low resolution textures.

2. Gothic 3 will still run out of memory when playing longer sessions
(internally we
one crash in 6-7 hours with high texture resolutions). Teleporting
frequently can
further reduce the crash frequency.

3. Teleporting will take a little longer than before CP 1.60 due to memory
management
changes.

4. Alt Tabbing randomly leads to a black screen when tabbing in again.

5. NPCs can be invisible in rare cases. Just walk far away and return.
6. Camera can flicker in some cases. Just scroll camera out and in again.

7. If the hero sits down on a throne in first person mode, the camera will
face the
backrest instead of looking to the front.

8. The game crashes if the player passes underneath the bridge south of
Geldern.

9. At certain times of the day, black shadows might appear on some ground
textures.

10. Rain and wind can also be heard in caves and other usually soundproof
places.

11. The rain sound can disappear completely in some areas. (It will come back
when a
new rain starts).

12. It's not recommended to activate antialiasing over the graphic card's
driver.

13. Creative ALchemy software may lead to buggy display of textures/materials.

14. nVidia and ATI/AMD driver profiles for Gothic 3 are causing problems and
should therefore
not be used.

3. Error Handling

If unexpected new problems arise after installation of this patch, the following is
recommended:

- Uninstall Gothic 3
- Delete the installation folder(s)
- Maybe defragment your hard drive
- Install the game anew
- Install Community Patch 1.75 anew
- Maybe defragment your hard drive again
- Restart your computer

4. Notes to some ge3.ini parameters
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There has been a certain amount of changes done to the ge3.ini. Three new entries
might
require some further explanation.

1. DisableDEP

Some players, especially Vista users, can't actually play the game, but
instead
receive a message box saying "Genome Gaming System has stopped working".
The main
reason for this is a security mechanism of Vista (and some other operating
systems)
called "Data execution prevention", or in short: DEP.
This protection mechanism can be switched off manually in the system
control panel
of your operating system. For those of you who don't want to switch it off
generally,
or who don't know how to do it, we included the parameter "DisableDEP" in
the ge3.ini.
If this parameter is set to "true", hopefully the mentioned error message
won't show
up again.
If you don't have any trouble with this message anyway, please keep using
the default
value, "false".

You use this parameter at your own risk!


There still may occur problems while playing the game.

2. Threads.Priority

With this switch, you can give Gothic 3 a higher priority compared to other
applications currently running on your computer, e.g. Acrobat Reader. The
main
intention of increasing the priority of Gothic 3 is to provide more CPU
time to the
game. This should result in a better performance, but that's not generally
guaranteed.
The values are:
0=Normal (default),
1=Above Normal,
2=Highest

Try it out if you like, but if you notice any negative side effects, undo
your changes
again. We know from our tests that a priority value of 1 (above normal) can
evoke
problems with the game control on weak/slow computers, resulting in an
increasing
delay of every keyboard or mouse action.
So - all changes of the Thread.Priority are at your own risk.

3. Timer.ThreadSafe

When using multicore computers, there can generally appear synchronization


errors when
querying the system time. In Gothic 3, this could result in particularly
slow or
particularly fast progress of the ingame time ("disco effect"). If the
parameter
ThreadSafe is set to "true" (this is the default after installing the
patch), the
system time will be determined correctly. This may influence the
performance of the
game. If you experience any trouble with ThreadSafe=true (against our
expectations),
simply change the entry to "false".

4. Render.Nvidia3DVisionFix

This parameter is only relevant if you use nVidia 3D Vision.


You can force the fix "on" or "off" by setting the value to 0 or 1
respectively.
Default value is 2 (auto detect).
