Social network is very important art of people's live. People build a personal network of friends on social media. Information is shared sreely. Users discuss the issues related to their interest. Social media gives voice to people. Now social media is very powerful. The use of social media is increasing. android , 4G technology , low cost mobile and internet services increased the use of social media. today also teenagers use social media at very Targe level. Facebook twitter, linked in, Instagram, whats aap you tube , Blogs are most important part of social media and widely used by youth. Youth are afected by social media at social and psychological level. This research is conducted to analyse the impact of social media on youth in Lucknow cit Keywords : Social Media , Social Networking Sites, Youth , Lucknow Introduction : Social media is defined as websites applications that allow people to share content quickly . these sites and applications facilitate communication . member of such sites can easily ‘communicate to each other . people can share and discuss through forums and polls ete. people ccan share photos videos events in real time. ‘Through social media people can make new friends , reconnect with old friends and keep in touch in with current friends . people can make pages and join different type of groups with people of similar interest . social media is a platform where people can discuss social issues social media playing important role in education , students making groups, pages on different ‘competitive exams like UGC NET, IIT JEE, RAILWAYS, BANK, SSC and sharing study material in these groups . students also make groups for school and college friends and different other purposes. users can share there feelings through posts and status. users congratulate there family ‘members, friends on there birthdays marriage and festivals . people share ther pictures . videos of birthday , wedding ceremony , travelling and so much. Users can like ,share and comment on these pictures and videos. Social media also influence political campaign. In india after 2014 general election , social media played very important role in campaign . the population of young people in india is very huge political parties want to influence them. political parties social media cell. these social media cell promote their ideology, policies and leaders in social media . social media is important tool for ‘mobilizing people for 2 common issue or problem . Though social media is beneficial for youth in education and many other ways , social ‘media is affecting youth negatively. The negative images, messages, video links, voice messages are creating negative influence in the society and social groups at the minor level to penetrate to destabilize the inter-state harmony in the international relations. Zahid amin (2014) finds that impact of social media mostly positive because students spend time of their day activities on these social media sites have able to share and generate new ideas and concepts related to their studies they also use these sites for having fun as these social websites are helpful in their academic work ‘A. Jesu Kulandairaj (2014) finds that people select their fitness activities , diet, hobbies . job portals through social networking sites. 75 percent people memibers of fan pages for brands and products . most! people notice advertisement on social networking sites Annapoorna shetty (2015) finds that social media have positive impact on youth . social media is helpfl to create awareness among youth and social media is helpful to get knowlwdge. Shabnoor Siddiqui (2016) said that According to BBC news research of 2013 they discuss that 67% Facebook users are very common and well known social media portal consist of the youth and students, so these praise the fact that the youth and student have more focus and relation. Throughout the country teenagers frequently use the web, mobile phones, online games to communicate and gather information with each other. As per the survey in California the below table shows that how social media impacts the behavioral health of California's adults. Objectives : 1. To study the effets of social media on youth, 2. To evaluate the attitude of youth towards social media 3. To find out how social media benefitted youth. Research methodology : This will be a descriptive study. which will be carried out in one selected school and one selected degree college of Lucknow city. Convenience sampling method will be used. Where 120 questionnaire will be administered among youth of 16 to 26 years of age. The questionnaire consists of 20 close ended questions . the survey was conducted by researcher to 120 young students. The participation of female is higher than male participants with 81 percent the level of qualification of respondents from high school to graduation in selected school and one selected degree college of lucknow. Majority of students belongs to urban areas . majority of students belongs to old lucknow . This research finds that social media is necessary for youth . social media is useful in education . respondents agree that social media is a addiction but social media is not a wastage of time . useless and ambiguous information creates create confusion in youth still social media is a good source of knowledge and information . social media create awareness among youth and update with new trends. Respondents agree that social media playing important role in creating, political awareness. Majority of youth are facing cyber bullying . social media have positive impact, on youth and also have some negative impact.
