Experiment Name: Determination the twist per inch (TPI) of

supply yarn by twist tester machine.
Introduction:
Yarn twist: Twist is the spiral disposition of the components
of a thread which is usually the result of relative rotation of
the two ends.
Twist direction: The direction of twist is indicated by the use
of the letters ‘S’ or ‘Z’ according to the following conversion.
There are two types of yarn twist:
1. S-twist: when twist is applied clockwise, the twist will be
S-twist.
2. Z-twist: when twist is applied anticlockwise, the twist
will be Z-twist.
Atmosphere Condition:
Standard atmosphere condition: R.H% = (65±2) %
Lab Atmosphere condition: R.H% = 67.68%
Temperature = 26° C
Objectives:
 To know about amount of yarn twist.
 To know about the machine.
 To know about working principle.
Apparatus:
1. Warp reel
2. Digital balance
3. Semi automatic yarn tester
4. Sample yarn
5. Scissor
6. Load scale
7. Sensor indicator
8. Operating handle
9. Gripper
Working Procedure:
1. At first of the experiment 120 yds of yarn was measure
through warp reel then weighted by digital balance.
2. Then calculate the count in English system.
3. The measure the count in Tex system.
4. Adjusting load on the machine.
 5. Then 10˝ yarn was adjusted between the gripper.
6. Need the operating handle was started to move clockwise
but fact is the sensor indicator need no show any result.
7. After that the handle was started to move anti-clockwise
and after second the red light of sensor indicator was
disappeared which suggest the yarn was untwisting after
feather moving of handle the yarn was starts twisting
again.
8. After completely finished in one side.
9. After regulation the sensor indicator the red light one
again.
10. Then the result showing in the display of yarn.

Result:
The average amount of TPI of supplied yarn is 30.6
Precuation:
 Measured the supply yarn very carefully.
  Machine used carefully.
 All the weight taken sharply.
Comment:
This supply yarn TPI is very good. It’s a high quality of yarn
twist.
