1. Charles John Huffam Dickens was an English writer and social critic.
2. He was born in Portsmouth, England. His parents were John Dickens
and Elizabeth Barrow.
3. Dickens left school when he was ten years old and worked in a factory
while his father was in prison for debt.
4. Charles had four brothers and three sisters .
5. He published fifteen novels and wrote hundreds of short stories and
non-fiction pieces.
6. The Pickwick Papers was the first novel of Charles Dickens.
7. He created some of the world`s best-known fictional characters.
8. The Charles Dickens Museum in London is the historic home where he
wrote Oliver Twist.
9. Charles married Catherine Hogarth and they had ten children.
10. Charles Dickens died on 9th June 1870 .
11. He was buried in Poet`s Corner of Westminster Abbey.
