CL discussion

Since corpora are generally concerned with the language variations, a good way to use the corpus would
be to use it for comparison of different variants of language people speak in different contexts. In this way,
the research would be concerned with different variants of speakers’ communication which depends on
the context in which it occurs. Therefore, it would be the research that uses discourse included in the
corpus based on spoken data between people in different contexts. Through the discourse it would be
possible to understand whether the speakers who communicate are complete strangers, acquaintances,
colleagues, or they are intimates etc. E.g. if there are two persons communicating while at work, and if
they’re talking about something related to their job, it is understandable that they are colleagues at work.
On the other hand, if I there is the discourse between two people who meet each other every morning
while going to work and they only greet each other without any further communication, it can be
concluded that they are only acquaintances.

One such example is CANCODE corpus of discourse.
