Mobilizing community

As we have written on problem part our community has lack awareness related to
the prevention of this pandemic and its new epidemiological status. Typically,
these are marginalized urban populations, the rural poor, or children who have
no access to critical and child-friendly information. In this pandemic, when
everyone should be aware of the risks posed by COVID-19 and, most
importantly, be informed about how to protect themselves and their families,
leaving these populations in the dark will be catastrophic for the country.

As COVID-19 continues to affect many aspects of daily life, we will be

partnered with the Haramaya University and Ethiopia Red Cross to train youth
volunteers to work with community leaders, frontline health workers and
women groups to raise public awareness and minimize impact. The
volunteers conduct their activities in marketplaces, slums and congested public
places like taxi stations and also rural area. The volunteers will use a mobile
speaker to amplify their message and conduct home visits. Hand hygiene is one
of the most effective actions that people can take to reduce the spread of the
coronavirus and the youth volunteers will sensitize people to keep their hands
clean through frequent hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers.

These volunteers will also prepare update postures that will be posted for
community on public gathering as to deliver information and also will prepare
video records of drama or role play and share it on social media.
After the school started we will create and mobilize COVD 19 prevention group to
work with health care professionals and to work on preventive measures that
should be taken while teaching.
