All chambers shall be tested separately. Pressure vessels, piping subassemblies, or parts to be tested must be properly supported. For bigger parts or larger vessels, and for vertical vessels to be tested in the horizontal position, the design service shall instruct on the number and type of the saddles or supports to be used. Clean the interior of the item to be tested and all sealing faces to the flanges if necessary. All openings, except for one at the highest point, shall be properly closed by plugs, flanges, etc..... The opening at the highest point shall be used as a vent during the filing, in order to avoid air pockets. For larger vessels, several vents may be used. The thicknes of gasket shall be 2 mm, unless otherwise specified on the general assembly drawing or in a specific procedure. Flanges, bolts and plugs used must be sufficiently strong to withstand the hydrostatic test pressure. All bolt holes of the flanges shall be used. At least one pressure gauge shall be installed directly on the item to be tested. The gauge shall be installed preferably on the top of item: if this will be impossible, the test Pressure may have to be compensated to include the static head of the liquid used. For large vessels, 2 gauges should be used: one at the top and one at a readily accessible place. It must be visible to operation. Use calibrated pressure gauges. The range of the pressure gauge should be about 2 times the test pressure but shall be within 1% times to 4 times the test pressure. The spacing between graduations shall be such as to enable reading of the necessary test pressure. The test medium shall be normally water unless otherwise specified by the clientiowner. The test water shall be clean and be of such quality to minimize corrosion of the materials in the item under pressure. For carbon steel and low-alloy steel: city water. | For austenitic chromium-nickel steel: city water with a maximum chloride content of 100 ppm if not otherwise specified by the customer. 6°/ TEST TEMPERATURE It is recommended to have a water temperature not less than 30 °F (17 °C) above the minimum design metal temperature to minimize the risk of brittle fracture. The metal temperature shall not exceed, in any case, 120 ¥ (48.9 ©). 7°/ TEST PRESSURE | The test pressure (in general at the top of the item to be tested) is indicated on the general assembly drawing, or in a specific procedure to the job. 8°/ TEST PROCEDURE Fill the vessel or item with the specified water. When water and item to be tested have approx. attained the same temperature, apply the pressure slowly and gradually until specified pressure is reached. Take care to consider the static pressure for large vessels/items After the holding time (see 9 below), the test pressure may be reduced to a pressure not less than the test pressure divided by 1.3, and examine visually joint and connections. Time shall be sufficient to permit complete examination of parts under pressure. The item shall be examined for leakage and deformations. Examination for leakage ‘shall be made of joints and connections. 9°/ HOLDING TIME OF TEST PRESSURE The test pressure shall be continuously maintained «for a minimum of 10 minutes for vessels with a wall thickness up to 13 mm, and * for a minimum of 30 minutes for vessels with a wall thickness 2 13 mm. 10°/ ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA | The item being tested shall show no visual evidence of weeping, leaking or | permanent deformations. The only exception are small leaks at nozzle gaskets of temporary test closures: these leaks must be so small that the prescribed test Ge dcament et eso de DELATIRE LEVIVIER MAROC I ext foment ncn de esrshire ox ds dle s Jocomen ans Cavionisisn nts de BLM PR-CND-15 A HYDROSTATIC TEST PROCEDURE hwoser 4ofd pressure can be maintained during the holding time, and that they will not interfere with the subsequent visual examination. Defects have to be reported. 11°/ DRAINING AND CLEANING After the test item has been found acceptable, reduce pressure to 0, then open vents and empty being careful not to have negative pressure in vessel during draining. Clean vessel after test and draining. Especially for austenitic items, in order to prevent deposition of chlorides as a result of evaporative drying, all residual liquid shall be removed from the tested parts immediately after the test and dried by blowing with air. 12°/ REPORT The Hydrostatic Test report, form ENR-136 shall be filled out after the test has been satisfactorily concluded. ‘Coil ab sd de BELATERE LEVIVIER MAROC Wt onan ic nc de Miser docu wns Casson ene de DCM,
