BU HATAW is basically held every year in Bicol University.

However, this year is

more special since it is the 50 th anniversary of the Bicol University. The celebration for

this year was much more intense and fun. At first, I was curious on what we were going

to do with the so called “HATAW” since I’ve only heard it from our seniors. I thought that

maybe it was just a simple activity in PE that will be performed during the subject but I

was wrong. I was a little shocked that we were going to perform it during the

anniversary of Bicol University together with all of the other students. I felt the

excitement rushing through me. I was excited to see what will be the outcome of our

performance. Before the practice, I was concerned about the dance steps if it will be

hard to follow and memorized but fortunately the steps were easy and very enjoyable

since the music that were played were very catchy. Everyone was shouting and

enjoying the music while dancing. There was no doubt that everyone were having fun

because of the laughs and smiles evident through their faces. Even it was tiring we still

enjoyed it.

Weeks passed, and the time for the grand rehearsal came by. Everyone was

ready. Their P.E. shorts, assigned color of shirt, golden socks, and white shoes were all

ready. It is visible to everyone’s eyes the excitement they are feeling even though it was

only a rehearsal. Everything went smoothly during rehearsals. The day after, it was time

for the most awaited event. Even if the students were tired because of the parade held

before the hataw, we were still so energized because of the excitement since it is our

first time. Although the weather was not good, it didn’t stopped us to continue to enjoy

the event. Everyone was all wet due to the rain which made it more fun. Overall, our
performance was unforgettable. People who watched cheered and I can see that they

also enjoyed our performance.
