NATURE VS NURTURE

Nature refers to all of the genes and hereditary factors that influence the development of ourselves.
Our physical and personality trait came from our parent. How we look like are the combination of
gene of our mother and father that create the unique ‘us’. Nurture refers to the variables from our
environment . As example, we may speak the same language of our parents. But, the accent that we
use or how we pronounce certain words are constructed by our learning or our peers.

SKINNER VS CHOMSKY

Skinner believed that language is learned, Whereas Chomsky believes that language is innate and
developed. Skinner mentioned that children learn language through reinforcement, a children must
love all aspect of language to master it. Then Chomsky mentioned that a child will automatically
learn how to speak language correctly from time to time as they learn progressively.

ROLE OF FIRST LANGUAGGE IN SLA

The first language role is during the translation of L1 into L2. We use L1 as the main guideline to
learn about L2, as example where we learn the L2 word by word or phrases by phrases . We will use
the L1 word and do direct translation of L2, then we will learn the structure of the language. In my
opinion, I learn foreign language easily using direct translation and know the correct structure later.
Because, it is a process to make myself familiar with the new language learnt.

NATURE VS NURTURE IN LINGUISTIC

When we speak about language, I agree that language are learnt. The language pass down to a child
from his/her parents then developed by various factors. As example, the language developed by the
factors of peers, the community or even the lifestyle.
