 PERSUASIVE WRITING

Read ‘ The Piece of String ’by De Maupassant and tell if the ending of the
story is justified or not. Prove your argument with logical evidence.

Answer

No, The end of the story was not justified as, MR. Hubert the central character of the story
who was a simple countryman was falsely accused of picking a pocketbook. The mayor of
the country was also not fair to him. As MR. Manana’s (who had sean Hubert picking up the
pocketbook and standing for a long while looking in the mud to see if any money had fallen
out) credence in the society made him doubtful about MR. Hubert’s truthfulness. He tried
too much to prove his innocence, but he could not. The pocketbook was found later but his
country fellows made him a laughing element. MR. Hubert took this to his heart and due to
this he fell ill and passed away. After his death, a great flood came and took away all the
people’s lives, who accused MR. Hubert, with their belongings. Hense , his innocence was
proven by almighty.
