There are two tasks in this test. You must do both tasks. Write on the answer sheets supplied.

TASK ONE
Choose one of the following topics. You should write between 120 and 150 words.

1. You and your family are staying abroad and living on a base. You are not pleased with your
apartment. Write a letter to the Accommodation Officer, Maj. Bergenson, to ask about chances of
changing the flat and give reasons for doing so. Think of the size, floor, heating and hot water
problems, noise, neighbours.

2. Write a letter to your friend Paul from Australia. Tell him about your last trip to Prague (dates,
length of stay, place you stay, food, how you spent your time). You want to go to Australia. Ask
his advice (when, where, climate, things to see and do, accommodation, cost, transport).

TASK TWO
You were in charge of a convoy on a mission. It started from Sahra base and was attacked on the way
to El Vahnir. Write a report to your CO, Col. Roberts, to describe the incident. Say what happened,
what you did and make suggestions for the future. Write a report between 120-150 words using the
information below:

Date, time, place: May 21, 11:30 am, Bahiret Valley

Attack: machine guns, grenades.
Fire back: 30 min.
End of Attack: attackers escape, convoy back base.
Losses: 2 dead, 2 injured – bad.
Damage: 1 truck – explosion
Attackers: who? - not know, 20?
Suggestions: patrols more, route change.
